Adrienne Hall joins PhilanthropyPoint as Senior Partner. She brings to the organisation an extraordinary depth of experience in non-profit development.
Adrienne’s recent contracts include major South African universities as they set out to raise funds, both internationally and domestically, from alumni, staff, corporate sponsors, and grant-making institutions; also several groups working on vital vocational and educational projects in East Africa.
She and Catherine Demetriadi have worked together on several projects, forming a supportive and collegial partnership that puts complementary experiences and skills to excellent use.
Adrienne has worked with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and across multiple stakeholder groups, including businesspeople, politicians, and philanthropists. She has led and collaborated with leadership teams to draft and implement successful advancement strategies; recruited and managed development teams; and worked with volunteers at all levels.
Her record in partnership and supporter-acquisition programmes is one of year-on-year income increases. She is equally at home with devising and managing annual funds as with planning major fundraising campaigns and personally soliciting 5- and 6-figure gifts.
Adrienne has been employed by or consulted with a range of organisations in the UK and South Africa, providing her expertise in development, marketing, and communications within arts, education, environment, advocacy, human rights, and medical charities.
Among these: Greenpeace Africa, Legal Resources Centre, Nelson Mandela Foundation, University of Strathclyde, St Hilda’s College Oxford, London School of Economics, Dartington Hall Trust and Summer School, Scottish Enterprise, The Bach Choir, and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Adrienne has been a business and start-up coach to arts entrepreneurs and arts organisations through the Cultural Enterprise Office, now part of Creative Scotland. For several years, she and Catherine worked in a consulting capacity for Chapel & York Limited, a multi-national company providing legal frameworks for charities to raise funds from cross-border donors as well as fundraising consulting services. Adrienne is former Executive Director of Chapel & York’s UK Foundation.
‘We would not have been so successful without Catherine’s skill in planning and executing a plan for our capital campaign. She was highly organized, had a good sense of potential donors and how to persuade them to donate. She wrote all the campaign materials, including the basic statement of the campaign, our goals statements and our literature, envelopes and pledge cards. She developed the computer system to track campaign contributions, and logged and analyzed the data herself.
‘Catherine proved herself once again as a greatly skilled and highly competent individual. She has demonstrated that she can successfully focus on and manage a single campaign or act as a consultant for a number of campaigns. She is clearly among the best in her field.’
